Metlika
Metlika is a small city in Bela Krajina. It lies along the river Kolpa, the warmest river in Slovenia in the summer months, which attracts many swimmers from near and far. Very popular are water sports such as kayaking, canoeing, boating, rafting and fly fishing.
Metlika has several guest houses with rooms, farms houses, apartments and Hotel Bela krajina. By the Kolpa River you can find three campsites.
One of the most interesting parts of Metlika is old city center. Here you can find cultural heritage sights such as the church of St. Nicholas, Metlika Castle, Bela Krajina and Slovenian firefighting museum, Ganglova house, building of the former Wach pharmacy etc.
Metlika is famous for its excellent cuisine (Bela Krajina cake, Bela Krajina povitica) and great wines, such as famous metliška črnina.
