Celje
Celje - princely city, lies at the confluence of the Savinja and Voglajna in the Lower Savinja Valley. It is an important business, economic, educational, cultural and trade fair city.
The city has a very rich history, from the Celts, the Romans until the famous Counts of Celje.
Counts of Celje were the most important noble and imperial family in Slovenia.
On the nearby hill stands an old castle, which offers a beautiful view of Celje and the surrounding area. In the summer months it hosts number of events, concerts, exhibitions and knightly games.
Very popular with visitors and locals are Celjska koča (Celje hut) and Šmartinsko lake, the largest artificial lake in Slovenia.
In the vicinity of Celje you can visit number of different spa centers: Laško Thermana, spa Podčetrtek (Terme Olimia), Rogaška Slatina, Dobrna or Zreče.
