Velenje
Velenje is a city in the eastern part of Šaleška valley and by the river Paka and well known especially for Coal Mine and factory Gorenje. Today Velenje is a city with certificates Children friendly UNICEF city, age-friendly city and Municipality customized for people with disabilities.
High above the city stands Velenje Castle, one of the best preserved castles in Slovenia. It the castle you can visit Velenje Museum with eleven permanent museum and gallery collections.
In Velenje is is possible to visit the Museum of coal, which presents the life and work of miners over time.
Every year the city Velenje hosts Pippi Longstocking children festival. Pippi's Festival is the largest children's event in Slovenia, which attracts visitors from near and far.
