Šentjur
Šentjur is a municipality with a rich natural and cultural heritage. In Šentjur resided some famous personalities who have marked Slovenia, as well as the Central European area. Among them: Anton Martin Slomšek, Composers Ipavci, writer Ana Wambrechtsammer, Blaz Kocen, Franjo Malgaj and many others.
Cultural attractions of this area: The Archaeological Park Rifnik, which stands at the site of the largest late antique settlements in Slovenia. Ruins of Castle Planina, whose owners were among others the famous Counts of Celje and the Habsburgs, Ipavčeva house, Ferlež mill, the birthplace of Anton Martin Slomšek, the Southern Railway Museum, etc.
Among the greatest natural attractions of Šentjur is Slivniško lake inhabited by 119 species of birds and 32 species of fish. The lake is a very popular place for fishing enthusiasts.
Not far away from Šentjur you can find two famous spa centers - Rogaska Slatina (Terme Rogaska) and Podčetrtek (Terme Olimia).
